Tiger’s Eye is a fictional winery brand conceptualized from the ground up, intended for use as promotional material to share the benefits of Ecovative’s all-natural, biodegradable Mushroom Packaging®.
Aimed towards casual drinkers and rooted in a mission of sustainability, Tiger’s Eye makes an adventurous, feel-good artisan wine using biodynamic processes and locally sourced, organic ingredients. With each wine variety’s name derived from a mushroom’s common name, this collection reintroduces the fun of popping open a bottle and experiencing something new.
I envisioned a stylish, bold, and pattern driven design that would allow this collection to stand out on a shelf, especially to younger audiences. It became clear early on that “balance” would be a theme I’d play with throughout this project: Tiger’s Eye is not only the common name for a mushroom, but also that of a protective gemstone said to balance one’s root chakra. I chose to juxtapose all the design elements, creating contrast between the brand’s signature boldness and minimalist, negative space in a complementary manner.
The process of piecing together the pattern went hand in hand with the logo development, and I worked to establish a balance between organic, psychedelic-inspired forms and a logical, geometric structure. The logo culminated as a blend of custom and found typefaces, with the goal of establishing the same kind of off-kilter symmetry that the rest of the brand relied on.
